Measures of District, School and Student Performance
A major and critical measure of district and academy performance is expressed through the Annual Yearly Progress (AYP) reports. This analysis is a measure used to hold schools and districts accountable for student achievement in Reading and Mathematics. AYP in Michigan is based upon the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) and Michigan Merit Examination (MME) results, student participation ratios in the MEAP/MME testing process and student attendance or graduation rates. Currently, the Elementary Academy and the High School have not met AYP requirements. The Elementary is classified as being in Phase 2 of improvement and the High School is in Phase 3. At the Elementary Academy, performance has been impacted by student attendance; and prior student academic deficiencies at the High School have affected student performance. The consequences related to these phases are comprehensive and have required that our district responds with Supplemental Educational Services (SES) activities. These services provide additional tutorial support to eligible students without a charge to parents. For more information, or to make arrangements to secure these services, parents may contact our SES Coordinator, Crystal Matthews at (313) 259-1744.
